Is this a rubbish idea

Having used many apps and devices over the years the ones I like are those that show very clear navigation instructions. I often ride with no communications and so rely on visual instructions.  One app I tried was Sygic with HUD. I loved the big clear instruction information however I really missed having a map. For this reason I stopped using the HUD view. I'm now using Scenic which I think is a better app for my needs. My idea however is based on the HUD view. When getting close to a turn, a HUD type view could slide into view showing turn and road information. Once the turn has been completed the view disappears. I'm not thinking full screen view, more half screen dialog box type view. Something that slides into view from the top. This does not replace the current turn information but arguments it as you approach a turn.

For those that have not seen Sygic HUD here are two screen shots. My idea would only contain the direction information with road name / number,  no other and would not be full screen. Something that users could set to have on or off in settings menu.

Instead of the speed and time info replace this with road info. eg A272 Midhurst

Is this a good idea or rubbish ?

Peter.

Good idea for sure!  I vaguely remember an app that did this (half screen map, other half instruction), but can't remember which one it was. In any case I'll keep this in mind for Scenic 3.

Navigation is very personal. Some like this, others like that. The key is to make it configurable so everyone can fine-tune it for their needs.

If you're enjoying Scenic and are happy with the support, please leave a nice rating in the App Store. It would mean a lot to me ❤️
