It could also be an electrical problem  when you start riding typically the voltage of your electrical system of the bike changes a bit (becomes higher, to charge your battery etc)

I don’t believe this is Scenic related. Try running another navigation app and see if it happens.

Of course Scenic needs more power than google maps, but your setup shut be able to keep up the power-level.

I‘d try to test this with a powerbank.

I have to admit it's very strange that you do not have this problem with Google Maps or Apple Maps. That would indeed point into the direction of Scenic as the culprit. Then again, the difference simply can not be this big. Your iPhone's biggest battery eaters are, number 1, the screen. If the screen is ON, in full brightness, that's the biggest battery eater. Brightness level (so environment light) makes a huge difference b.t.w. In bright daylight your screen will be on full brightness. On cloudy days and/or night and/or shaded from the sun, the brightness might be lower and thus use less battery.

The second biggest battery eater is the GPS receiver. While there might be slight differences in how Google Maps, Apple Maps and Scenic utilize the GPS receiver, the difference can't be THAT big. Navigation apps simply need high accuracy GPS signal.

Then there is CPU, GPU usage, bluetooth connections, wifi or cellular. These all make a difference and from that perspective it is possible that Scenic uses more battery, but again, the difference can not be that big.

So, my recommendation (similar to @mex recommenation above):
- Make sure you test this in same circumstances. Same ambience light conditions, same connected bluetooth devices, same route, etc. Same other apps running in background, etc. In short... keep everything the same except change the app.

- The other way to test this is like @mex recommended above. Keep everything the same except your charging solution. That will tell you if it's your charging setup.

As a sidenote, in just about all these cases I've heard over the years, it has always been someones charging setup. We even had a user test Scenic's battery usage and it was inline with other nav apps.
