Friends list

As we all usually ride with others, it’s likely to want some kind of feature where you could list your riding buddy’s and see and download their (public routes) this suits the general purpose of building a rider community and offers the option to give credits to the author of the route as it is ridden by others (something which REVER and Calimoto both do very well).

There’s no real leaderboard necessary for this feature so it seems easy to implement. A five-star rating would suffice.

Understand what you mean. The “friends” feature has been on the list for a very long time but I never have gotten around to it. I’m hoping to add it in 2021, once Scenic 3 is out.

I know it’s not the same but meanwhile, to share routes among friends, you can use the Share URL feature perhaps? https://scenic.app/knowledge-base/sharing-routes-rides/

That was indeed clear to me and how I go about the current route edit discussion with other riders. It would however be nice to have a feature as described, meanwhile this will do! Thank you for your reply.

Hey.

maybe add a “show my buddies, I’m riding right now” on top?

So my “friends” would be notified and could join me.

also it would be nice, to see the “friends” location on map when they are on a ride. (in case you allowed to share location by settings?)

IMHO I think this is getting away from what a navigation app should do which is navigate. If you want your buddies to know you are out riding then just have a WhatsApp group and notify them on that. Simples. Guido has so many features on his list I don't know how he is going to satisfy all of them. My message is keep it simple but make it the best app to navigate.

The best Navigation is indeed priority #1 and will stay that way. That’s why I’m switching to the new map provider in Scenic 3. Will be a huge improvement from navigation and routing perspective.

Having said that, I do realize that phones from now combines with the fast cellular data network are so powerful they open up a range of possibilities. E.g. to see where your friends are which are riding the same route as you. When riding with a group, it has happened to me that one or two persons are slower than others, and if your able to see each other on the map this helps it joining back up again. A ‘nice to have’ but none the less can be very useful.
