How the new MotoMap will be waaayyyyyyyy better

By 27.01.2016February 24th, 201627 Comments

The last year I’ve been working very hard on “the new app” (name still top secret). Same concept as MotoMap but completely redesigned and built from the ground up, with a different map provider and with features you’ve all been waiting and asking for.

It’s gonna be the best and most complete yet super easy to use (motorcycle) Route Planner, Navigator and Tracker out there!

Here are some features which I know you’re gonna love:

  • Turn by turn and voice navigation (for routes with many, many viapoints)
  • Create your own Routes, right from within the app.
  • Easily find Scenic Routes, created by fellow “new app” users. Navigate them and review and rate them.
  • Offline Maps
  • Landscape mode
  • Heading up mode
  • 3D Map
  • Support for, not only GPS motorcycle navigation, but also Bicycle routes and even pedestrian routes.
  • Next to GPX tracks you can now also import Routes and Waypoints from GPX files and fully edit them on the fly.
  • Navigate, not only routes, but also to  destinations.
  • Trip recording has been improved, optimized and data is now visually displayed in graphs, maps and pics.
  • Resume a trip that was in progress when the app stopped unexpectedly. E.g. running out of battery or closing the app by accident (or, God forbid, an app crash)

And this is just the tip of the iceberg!

Keep a close eye on the blog for sneak peak screenshots and beta test start date & subscription info.

    Can’t wait!!!

  • Dirk says:

    Me too 😀
Any idea for the release date?

  • Tim says:

Will this be Apple iOS only, or will there also be an Android app? If there really is a chance that the beta will be ready before the end of February there are lots of folks planning nice long trips to Daytona for bike week March 4-13th the might give them a great chance to offer good feedback on a long trip. Hint hint… 🙂
    FWIW, this sounds awesome!

    • The app is iOS only. Maybe in the future I’ll invest in an Android version, depending on how well the ios version will do.
Thanks for the tip on Daytona! I’m gonna try to start the beta before, however also Apple does a review round and it’s always a mystery if they’ll have remarks, especially when submitting an app for the first time.

  • Tim says:

Is there any chance this will be available on Android, as well?

  • Tim says:

Sorry, different Tim with the same question. Didn’t mean to double post. Hopefully it goes well enough to invest in Android!

  • Spencer Bullins says:

Which iPhone models will be compatible with the new app?

  • Gerry says:

    Hi Guido
Is the new app a continuation of your collaboration with Furkot?

    • Hi Gerry, at first point, not really, however it will still be possible to plan your trips with furkot and ride them with the new app. Also, in the future we might integrate further, but it’s too soon to say at this moment.

  • James says:

very interested in a beta account!

I run a motorcycle group at a university in NC. We do group rides 2-3 times a week. tired of using mapmyride. was going to try rever, but this looks promising.

    Send me an email!

  • Mark Zander says:

    Is the App ready yet?

  • Emile says:

Will it include scenic routes in Canada?
    Cheers

    • Hi Emile. Scenic does have maps (Online and Offline) for Canada. As for the Scenic routes. The Scenic Route Database is a social database, which means that it’s fed by all Scenic users worldwide. Users can choose to make their routes public and if they do, you will be able to see it and select it for navigation. As Scenic is now currently still in beta, you won’t find a lot of routes, but as Scenic will get more users also the Scenic Route Database will grow.

  • Ron Priest says:

Is it March yet? 🙂 Spencer, you stated that the app will be have iPad support, but will it support full resolution of the iPad or just a blown iPhone screen?

  • Ron Priest says:

    Hi Guido

Sorry, I got the names wrong in my last post. Is it March yet? 🙂

So Guido, you stated that the app will be have iPad support, but will it support full resolution of the iPad or just a blown iPhone screen?

  • Todd says:

Sorry, new here. Before I go out and get a zumo I wanted to give this a go. Update on a release date yet? Compatible in Europe? Here’s me hoping!

  • Radwan says:

Hi, can’t wait for new app! When is it going to be published?

  • FilbertFatknacker says:

Hi how about a feature that the screen flashes bright red when nearing a speed camera or buzzes in your pocket or alarm sound in your ear with a headset , at a distance you set your self

    • Hi, sorry for my late reply. Had an over-sensitive comment spam detector and looks like almost all comments ended up in the spam folder. Sorry about that. Currently Scenic doesn’t support speed camera recognition. However, you can set a audible and/or visual warning when you exceed the speed limit with a threshold set by you as well.

  • Will this app be able to be used without any cellular service only GPS like some other apps? I am looking for something that can used when I’m off the grid?

    • Hi Kenneth, sorry for my late reply. Had an over-sensitive comment spam detector and looks like almost all comments ended up in the spam folder. Sorry about that. Yes, with Scenic you can download offline country and/or state maps to your device so you don’t need cell service. If you have any further questions please let me know. Best Regards, Guido
