Harley Davidson Enters Electronic Bicycle Market

While not everybody will be cheering when they read this, it is a memorable moment. Harley Davidson announces it will launch an e-bike in 2021. It is called the Serial 1 and no price information is released yet. The news is no surprise as Harley Davidson already entered the market for children’s electric bikes through their newly acquired Californian company StaCyc.

This good looking new e-bike takes its name from “Serial Number One,” the nickname for Harley’s oldest motorcycle which was produced at the beginning of the last century. A lot has happened since then. E.g. in June I wrote about its stunning Breakout model as you can read here.

Since the beginning of this century the global e-bike market has grown a lot and was worth more than $US15 billion in 2019. It is projected to grow at an annual rate of more than 6% from 2020 to 2025. No wonder Harley Davidson wants a piece of the cake and my prediction is they will do so successfully.
