Unable to send route from Kurviger to Scenic when both on iPhone or iPad

First what is working perfect: When I create a route in Kurviger on my Mac running Chrome, I press "Export", then "Sende Route an Scenic" and get a new window saying "Route successfully sent. Open Scenice on your iPhone or iPad to import it".  When opening Scenic on iPad and/or iPhone, the route is there to import. It all works very nice 🙂

Then what is not working: When I create a route in Kurviger on my iPhone or iPad also running Chrome, I press "Export", then "Sende Route an Scenic" and get a new window in scenicapp.space saying "Have Scenic on your Device?" (I have) and a red field with "Tap and hold here" and underneath "or tap OPEN in the top banner". When I tap and hold the red field, nothing happens. When I let go the red field, there is a blue line made from left to right only. I then open Scenic and go to the Import Que, but there is nothing to import. I then tried to have the Scenic app open when exporting from Kurviger, but the same result.

The results are the same on iPad except here the blue line on scenicapp.space window does not appear.

I never found out where to tap follow the instruction "or tap OPEN in the top banner". I need some help here also..

All apps and IOS software are the latest version on both iPhone X and iPad Air 2.

What puzzeles me is that it works so fine from Mac to iPhone and iPad, but not from iPad to iPad or iPhone to iPhone although the same browser and apps are being used.. :-I

Any help will be much appreciated as I do not want to have to bring my Mac on MC trips.. 🙂

Kind regards Johan, Moss, Norway

I'm afraid this is Chrome related. If you do the same thing in Safari on iPad /iPhone Scenic is openend automatically. That's because the automatic opening of an app through a link, uses Apple Universal Links. Chrome somehow can't open other apps through universal links. It wouldn't surprise me if that would be a security 'feature' of Apple. Not sure though to be honest.

The reason why I think nobody has mentioned this before is (1) a lot of people use Safari as it's the default browser for iOS and (2) most people, when using Kurviger, do this on their desktop / laptop. If you want to create a curvy route on your iPad / iPhone, most people do this in Scenic directly. Gong through the Kurviger website would be an additional step. You can generate a curvy route or round trip (with Kurviger algorithm) directly from Scenic.

You can do this from the start screen or by creating a route through the routes tab.

Hope this helps/explains. If not or if you have other questions please let me know. Happy to help.

Best regards and ride safe,
Guido

If you're enjoying Scenic and are happy with the support, please leave a nice rating in the App Store. It would mean a lot to me ❤️

Thanks a lot for helping me solve that issue!!  A great relief 🙂

My reason for my need is that I plan my trips ahead, like for next summer (had to postpone one year due to Covid). I have planned some 35-40 stretches through Europe and all 2000+ meter passes in the alps for me and my Vespa 300. I used my Mac/Chrome/Kurviger for this, and save each stretch as a favorite in chrome. When on my trip, I wanted to use my iPhone, open the actual strech by klicking the favorite stored in Chrome and then export it to Scenic for guidance.

I knew about the problem of import all along, but thought I would solve it working hard enough on it. Which I have, or rather, you have :-)) I tested your way using Safari - no more problems. Now I just have to figure out a way to transfer all my favorites from Chrome to Safari..  And I will definitely get busy to get to know Scenic better.

I also saw in a post that you work on a change on supplier for maps. For me, your map "High Contrast Regular" works best. Many of the maps on the market have a horrible contrast for roads compared to surroundings, especially when being used as regular map with no spesific route, Google maps being the worst.

Again - thanks a lot :-))))

Hello Guido - you also wrote

"You can generate a curvy route or round trip (with Kurviger algorithm) directly from Scenic"

I have now spent some hours looking at videos and using Scenic. It is great - THE BEST APP? - just as convinient and easy-to-use as you said 🙂
