Scenic reroutes on round trips
Quote from sickora on 31.05.2021, 09:27I posted about this topic before, but after carefully observing what happens, I have a new question.
Scenic will continue to reroute me when I plan round-trips. I notice it only does this when I'm on the round trip and I am passing by a waypoint on the way home.
For example, I make a round-trip which is an oval shaped route, with 10 way points. If I pass way-point 8, and waypoint 12 is the closest waypoint to get me back home faster, the app will re-route to waypoint 12, skipping 9-11. It appears that Scenic's goal is to get me to the end point as quick as possible as opposed to following all the waypoints in sequential order.
Is there a setting I have wrong? I've tried numerous different settings, incuding the detour and Via Point pro mode, but no luck. If the answer is I'll have to wait until Scenic 3, that's fine, I just wanted to make sure it wasn't a simple setting I have wrong.

Quote from Guido on 31.05.2021, 20:25You don't have a setting wrong... Scenic's current routing algorithm does not handle round trips well. As a workaround I split up the route in 2 parts, only loading the 2nd part one the midway point (the middle waypoint) has been reached. This however, doesn't work well in all circumstances as you've noticed.
The best workaround I can give you at the moment it to not make a round trip, but make sure the start and end point are at least 300 meters apart. If that's the case Scenic will not consider it as a round trip and will act more 'normal'.
Scenic 3 will resolve this issue completely.
