Scenic Navigates Off then Back on Freeway
Quote from TD1 on 16.03.2020, 20:59Sometimes, when navigating on a freeway, Scenic instructs me to exit the freeway then immediately drive back onto the freeway. This happens with exits that have off-ramps and on-ramps that closely parallel the route of the freeway. I've been able to reproduce the behavior with routes created in the Scenic app (vs imported) for which there are no via points at or near the exit.
I've attached a screen-shot of a route that does this.
Any thoughts?

Quote from TD1 on 17.03.2020, 09:27This is Interstate 405 in Bellevue Washington, USA (suburb east of Seattle). I routed southbound from the intersection with Interstate 90 to the intersection with WA highway 169. It routed over 3 exits in that distance. It does this in both "Fast" and "Efficient" routing. I've also experienced this on Interstate 405 northbound.

Quote from Guido on 17.03.2020, 11:59Should have asked before, but what version of Scenic are you on? This was a bug a few versions back, but has since then been resolved, or so I thought. The latest version of Scenic (at this time of writing) is 2.2.5. You can see version number at the bottom of Settings tab. If you don't have the latest version you can update through the App Store.

Quote from Guido on 18.03.2020, 12:38OK. Was able to reproduce the issue. It will be fixed in the next update. However I can only fix it for 'Efficient' routing mode, not for 'Fast' routing mode.
The 'Fast' mode uses road speeds provided by the map data, which I believe contains an error in this area. I.e. the on/offramps are considered to be faster than staying on the highway. Not sure why, but I'll report this to the map provider so they can fix it in next map update.
For the 'Efficient" routing mode I can override the road speeds with default values per road type. When I lowered the average speeds for highway on- and offramp it did stay on the highway. So that's what I will change for upcoming Scenic update.
Meanwhile what you could do as a workaround, is place a via point on the highway section that's being skipped. That way you'll force the routing to take the highway.
Apologies for the inconvenience and best regards,
Guido
