Probably my own fault, but....
Quote from douglas_in_philly on 19.04.2021, 19:56I've had scenic installed on my phone for a few weeks now, but didn't have my Ram X-Grip mount set up on my bike (had to replace some parts on the mount). Today was the first chance I'd had to try out Scenic, as I had the mount fixed. So I launched the app, hit the "Start Ride" button, and away I went. I took a loooooooong ride, all over tarnation, and was looking forward to getting home and checking out the map, and details of the ride (I was riding places I'd never been before). I got home and hit the "Finish Ride" button, and then saved the ride.
A short time later, I picked up my phone to take a look at the ride, and also decided to log into Scenic on my computer, thinking I'd probably be able to see the ride in either place. I noticed, though, that I wasn't logged into my account on the phone. I wasn't 100% sure I'd even created an account, but was pretty sure I'd done so. I looked in my password manager program, and saw a saved login for "Scenic," so I used it to log into the app. Sure enough, I did have an account that I'd created a few weeks ago. Unfortunately--and a bit to my surprise--the ride I'd just taken (while not logged in) was not available to me when logged in. So I logged out, hoping the ride would still be available when not logged in (but fully prepared for it to not be there), and sadly, it was nowhere to be found. So iot appears that I've lost all the details of the first ride on which I used Scenic. A bit of a bummer.
As I said in the subject line of the post, I realize this is more or less my own fault. I was kind of thinking, though, that much like other apps (not necessarily motorcycle related) that allow you to use them, and then if you create an account or login, the data from whatever you just did will be there in your account, Scenic would behave that way, as well. Lesson learned.
So now I'm looking forward to using Scenic on my *next* ride! 🙂

Sorry to hear you lost your ride. Indeed this is expected behavior for Scenic. On the second point your ride would have been maintained if you created an account, but unfortunately not if you login with an existing account. This was designed like this on purpose, otherwise data from one account (in this case an anonymous account) would be mixed with another account (the account you are logging in with). However, you should have gotten a message about this, status that any existing routes or rides would be lost. Did you not get this?
cheers,
guido

No worries. As noted, I realized that it was my own fault. Now I have an excuse to make the ride again!
I'm 99% sure I got no warnings at all about losing any existing route when I logged in. I might try again (on an around the block ride, or something) just to confirm.
Thanks for all your efforts on this app!
