Nav will not start
Quote from Lyndon on 25.04.2021, 10:11I’m a new user. Installed the app on my phone and tablet. Selected a destination and pressed “Start” and set off. Nav did not update from the starting point, just showed the position at the starting point. Tried maybe 6 times at different times yesterday. I must be doing something wrong. Anyone able to help?

Quote from Guido on 25.04.2021, 10:21Can be a couple of things:
- In the start screen, when you select a location on the map, before you tap 'start ride' you need to tap the 'checkmark' button in the bubble to actually select the location for navigation and calculate the route
- Scenic doesn't have location access. Go to the iOS Settings App > Scenic > Location. I recommend to put this on 'Always'. Minimum what Scenic needs is 'While Using the App'.
If none of these address your problem, could you add a screenshot of the screen you get after tapping the 'Start ride' button?
Cheers,
Guido

Quote from Lyndon on 25.04.2021, 10:27Wow, that was quick. Thanks Guido.
Definitely not the first item. Selected the check mark each time. Had “when using the app” selected for the second item but selected “always” anyway. I’ll try again and send a screen shot. Thanks for your help, really looking forward to making extensive use of this in Utah, Arizona and Colorado over the next 2 weeks.

Quote from Guido on 25.04.2021, 10:35Do I understand correct that the map (and the current position indicator) is not moving when you are moving? Is that what's happening? Or am I misunderstanding?
Maybe a few more things to try. Perhaps very obvious, but just to rule it out:
- Don't tap the 'start' button in the black 'dashboard', but the blue 'start ride' button just above it.
- Make sure location services are turned on system wide (iOS Settings App > Privacy > Location Services)

No luck - no change in the response, just the initial voice instruction then the frozen start of the nav. See attached image.

Loaded the app on my wife’s phone and logged-in. All worked fine. Removed and reloaded the app on my phone - still no luck. Phone was originally purchased on Australia and I do have some problems trying to use Apps for Australia here in the US. Perhaps the issue lies there somewhere? Anyway, I have it working on my wife’s phone so we’ll have to use that. Thanks for your help.

Quote from Guido on 25.04.2021, 12:18Just saw your screenshot. I don't think it has anything to do with the Australian phone. It looks like the screen freezes. Could be a performance problem (what iPhone model is it?), but then again I would have received more feedback like this if it was phone model related. More probable is that something is wrong with the hardware of your phone. Perhaps the GPS receiver is fried (have a look at this post if symptoms sound familiar), or the internal memory or even the processor nor working optimal anymore.

Thanks for your help Guido. I’m sure we’ll enjoy using Scenic.
