Integrate with Beeline

Hi,

first, thanks for a great app, I really enjoy using it on every trip.

I have just bought a new bike and a new phone. Meaning I either need to buy a new mount setup, and I am a bit nervous as I have a iPhone 12, with the image stability issue, or find a new way to navigate.

And I would like to have a smaller device on the bike. Therefore I would like to ask if there is any chance that this great app at some point will integrate with something like Beeline?

best regards,

René

Hi René,

Never say never, but honestly, at the moment there are so many things on the to do list that integration with Beeline seems unlikely. Also, while I appreciate the minimalistic interface of Beeline, this also makes it a bit limited. Therefore, for now, I have chose the approach to first integrate Scenic with Apple CarPlay followed by supporting some bikes OEM TFT displays. I'm hoping to have CarPlay support by end of this year. Other ones will follow next year.

Best regards,
Guido

If you're enjoying Scenic and are happy with the support, please leave a nice rating in the App Store. It would mean a lot to me ❤️

Depends what you mean about integrate. I use Scenic, Beeline Moto and TomTom Go all for different tasks. If you create a route in Scenic, you can use 'Export GPX' directly into the Beeline app. So I would say that they are already quite well integrated.

I use TomTom Go for traffic and road closure info, something that Scenic and Beeline cannot do at the moment.

If you are worried about vibration damage to your iPhone then use an anti-vibration mount. I use SP Connect but I believe Quadlock also do one.

Thanks for the answers guys.

It's totally understandable that it's not a high priority. The app and it's functionality properly suits a bigger screen better than the small screen of Beeline.

When using both Beeline and TomTom Go, do you know if it uses the same GPS signal and info from the phone, like if the phone gathers all information, and then distributes it to the different apps. Or is each app gathering it's own information, and thereby using more battery?

And PeterRT, if you use both Beeline and TomTom Go, do you then have a bluetooth headset that gives you updates during the ride, or have you mounted both the phone and Beeline, and looking at both navigation screens at the same time?

Sorry for all the noob questions. I'm pretty new to motorcycle riding, but I'm now in the middle of planing my first solo multiple day trip, so I'm quite curious to learn more about navigating.

I will also look more into both SP and Quadlocks antivi-bration mounts.

Your phone has only 1 GPS receiver. iOS makes sure that both apps are receiving information (coordinates, accuracy, heading, etc) from that. That will be the same information. Nevertheless each app will do it’s own processing of that information so you will use more battery, although not double the battery usage.

I have reviewed the vibration dampener from quad lock. Here’s the article: https://scenic.app/quad-lock-vibration-dampener-unboxing-installation-and-road-test/

So far it’s still going strong. Camera module has not been damaged after almost 5000 km now.

Bucholdt no need to apologies for asking noob questions, it's what forums are for. To answer your questions I do not use Scenic and Beeline together. It's one or the other. At the moment I don't use a BT headset having just bought a new helmet, but Beeline is visual only, no voice instructions. If you want voice and map then Scenic is the way to go. Beeline cannot display map detail it has its own directional information with a minimalist display. To understand it better check out Henry Crews video on the Beeline website. The reason I got one is I'm thinking of buying another bike maybe something retro and I did not want my phone mounted on the bike, plus I was curious.

Out of all the navigation apps for motorcycles Scenic is the best. It just does it all and Scenic 3 promises to improve it further. TomTom Go I use in the car with CarPlay and for checking routes mainly road closures. The latest version now allows for routes to be saved and imported via MyDrive desktop. Unfortunately you cannot either export or import GPX files directly via the app unlike Scenic.

The two anti-vibration mounts should be fine for road riding. If I was taking my bike off road then I'm not so sure but I think Guido does so I will let him comment on that.

If you are running any navigation app with the display on such as Scenic, then you do need to power it. Something you might not have considered. Full on navigation apps do drain batteries.

Thanks for the details.

That sealed the decision and I have just pulled the trigger on the Quadlock system including the anti-vibration mount and the charger.

So now I just need to sit back, and wait on the package arrives next week.

Thank you again for the help. I'm always amazed at how people spread out over the globe are able to help each other.
