In Times of Corona

Hi Guido,

in these times, we all have to think different. Here in Germany there are hundreds of "Makers" (private owners of 3d printers and other cool devices) joining together producing face shields for medical staff. I do not print parts, but I engage as a driver to deliver filament, printed parts and other parts from makers to hubs to doctors, etc. For planning routes, I use Scenic (of course). During my first tour I've sent the route (https://scenicapp.space/viewRoute.php?rid=ZcziTXVQ) to people that expected my arrival plus a link to website based on "LocaToWeb", an app based GPS tracking system with a web backend view. This allowed us very quick and short meetings and hand over. It would be even cooler, to view the route AND live tracking in a single web view.

Could you imagine an integration of a live tracking feature into Scenic?

I know, this would be quite some work. Regard this just as an idea.

Hi @kreiselkraft,

First of all: great initiative!!!!

Yes I can imagine such a feature. As a matter of fact I've already prepared Scenic's backbone for it when I developed Scenic 2. The front-end development and connectivity still needs to be designed and developed though, so that's going to take some time. Also there are some other things I want/need to do first before I get around to this feature.

Cheers and stay safe,

Guido

If you're enjoying Scenic and are happy with the support, please leave a nice rating in the App Store. It would mean a lot to me ❤️

This is good news. I have a couple of live tracking apps that usually run alongside whichever navigation app I am using, (the ability for my wife to track me is part of my permission to go riding a bike! And no, it's not that she wants to know if I am cheating - just where to find my body in case of an accident.) but an integrated facility is so much neater and relieves me of the need to remember that I need to start the tracking app.
