deleting rides on the phone doesn't actually remove them
Quote from David on 21.06.2020, 18:41OK, so I was very dumb. I was messing around with creating a public ride and posting images.
Used a short trip from our home to pick up dinner as a test:
- created the ride and took 4? pictures along they way
- made the ride public
- made a couple of the pictures public
- reviewed the public ride data via the URL. Looked great! Super easy and useful.
- deleted the ride on my phone... and the ride URL still loads. Ummm, ok so not my brightest move. Especially since the rides shows the start/finish at my house. I looked at multiple browsers and it's not a cache thing.
Anyway to recover control of the ride so that I can make it private? Or manually delete this ride?
Thanks for creating such a great app. Sorry to trouble with this user-error issue.

Quote from Guido on 21.06.2020, 19:21You actually discovered a bug David. I've correct now. Share links should no longer work for routes that have been deleted.
Scenic actually never deletes anything. Data is just marked as 'deleted' and then won't show in the app anymore. This is more reliable for syncing between devices. I forgot to add this to the code for the share links.
Share links will open a route/ride, regardless if that route/ride is public or not. Anyone with the link will be able to view the route/ride. (Similar to, for example, sharing a link to a dropbox file).
The 'Public' switch determines if that route will show up when people are searching for scenic routes through the 'find scenic routes' button in the routes tab. So, if public, the route can even be found by people without the link.
