Connect multiple routes with “off-road” track

I often ride dual sport routes that were planned by others. Usually I get these as a gpx and import them. Unfortunately some of these routes will go where there are no mapped roads (either private land with permission to ride on, off-road parks, logging roads, etc). Since the roads aren’t mapped, the app doesn’t recognize sections of the imported route. There’s the option to import as a track, but that removes the luxury of turn by turn navigation for the entire route, before and after the parts that can be mapped.

Is it possible to split an imported route (or even a route created in the app)  into multiple “routes” and link them together using a section of “blue line track”? Maybe creating a “trip” object that is comprised of routes and tracks?

Thanks for all the work you do for this fantastic app. I’ve got riding buddies that have the expensive Garmin units that struggle to see their route lines and are impressed that the Scenic app displays the routes so well.

I know exactly what you mean, but I'm afraid that's currently not possible. At the moment routes in Scenic can only support one routing mode (where I count 'no routing' for the off-road stretches a a routing mode as well).  I have this on the list to add in the future, but it will be a while. This is quite difficult to implement and will take a lot of time and testing to get right.

What I am going to do pretty soon in Scenic 3, is offer the option to load a new route during a ride, without stopping the ride tracking. With that you could first load route 1 (to get to the off-road stretch), the load the off-road stretch as 'follow the line' only and then at the end of that stretch, load the inroad part again that takes you to your destination. This will be the first step to a fully automated solution like described by you.

Meanwhile, the only thing to do now is either import entirely as track (follow the line only navigation) or import as a route and place a stop where the off-road stretches start and stop. When you reach that stop you'll get an alert, reminding you to not follow the route at that point. Of course both are not ideal solutions I'm afraid, but for now, that's the way to do it.

If you're enjoying Scenic and are happy with the support, please leave a nice rating in the App Store. It would mean a lot to me ❤️

Thanks for the quick reply and the feedback on some techniques to try in the meantime. I look forward to version 3.
