New user - first ride questions

Hi guys!

I found this amazing app after thousands of kilometers on my old Zumo 500. Why not use the expensive phone in my pocket and have easy routing 🙂 So I found Scenic!

Before getting the premium I would like to test out the app. This week I finally had a day off for my first ride, which was great, but I feel like I am missing out things.

  • I have hundreds of gpx-routes on my PC which i love to ride as a day trip (200 to 400km). I was able to import to scenic but I had to do a lot of editting in the app to make sure I follow the correct route. What programs do you guys use to (re)create the route so I won't have to much editting work after? I use mapsource & basecamp from my zumo-era. Or is there any way to edit the scenic-route more easy online/on pc instead of putting new via-points in the app?
  • I got a phonecall during the trip which made the app crash for an unknown reason. Because of the crash I also lost my voiceguide-credit that I used at the start of the route. Is there any way to buy a "day of voice guiding" for example 🙂 or keep it at least valid for the complete route? I was affraid to use other apps on my phone during the day, because I didn't want to lose another credit.
  • I missed a few turns because of lag. It was feeling that the guidance was 50 to 100 meter slower, especially when driving fast. I've read that this is a issue and Guido is working on it I guess. I use a iPhone 8, other GPS-apps work fine
  • I don't need to hear the street name but I understand that this can not be turned off? Is there a way to turn off the voice commands when arriving at a VIA-point?

Thanks for the advice, keep up the good work. I am amazed of the details of this app and I feel this is the app we need 🙂

To avoid any editing at all it's of course best to create the routes in Scenic itself. But, I understand that a bigger screen works nicer. For new routes Scenic works nicely with Google Maps, Kurviger and Furkot. I recommend Google Maps for relatively simple routes, Kurviger if you want to create curvy motorcycle routes and you don't know the area and Furkot for advanced planning, including multi day trips etc. Here's more info on this.

No sorry...there's isn't a way to do that. But, I assumed your nickname on the forum is the same as your nickname in the app, and gave you back the credit you lost, and a few more to continue trying. I'll also take a look at the crash reports as this shouldn't happen in the first place of course.

Since 2.2.9 the lag has been greatly reduces. Indeed it's not gone completely yet, but should be 'acceptable' in most cases. For Scenic 3 (next motorcycle season) I'm switching to a new map provider which will resolve this completely. You can do some tweaking that might improve/decrease the lag. Have a look at the navi-nerd settings.

When you arrive at a via point you won't get any voice instruction. Only when you get to a STOP. I know that basecamp imports create a lot of stops.. you can batch convert the stops into via points through the 'more' button (bottom left) in the route editor.

If you're enjoying Scenic and are happy with the support, please leave a nice rating in the App Store. It would mean a lot to me ❤️
