voice cut off on intercom headset

Hi Guido, i´m using scenic since a few days and allready love it!

I have a problem with my intercom, a quite cheap Lexin LX-A4 - it has a kind of priority system to handle audiosignals:

1. phone (HFP) - 2. intercom - 3. audio/music,.. so one need to use HFP mode to hear a navi-voice on the headset at all and to override the intercom-talk with other rider. Next problem is, intercom-unit needs a "verry" long time (ca 1-2seconds) to switch between the functions.

So the first part of each scenic-voice-command is cut off.  I guess also a lot off other user will have the same problem when using non-pro-intercoms. Setting "beep before command" didn't help - still to short time. Is there a chance to fix this problem?

As an absolute non-it-specialist i wonder if you could perhaps set the "trigger-point" (when the voice-command normaly would start) a bit earlier and at the same time implement a "delay" (eg. 2 sec) before the actual voice-command.

I read that in kurviger-app there would be a function "prepare voice-command" where user can set this (?) and then import route to scenic (that i that i prefer, btw 😉

As an apple/mac user i guess i can´t use this function cause kurviger-app is android only?

Would be great if there was a solution and to use the full functional scope of scenic! Many thaks & br, Alex

Hi Alex,

Indeed I've heard this before. I'll see if I can add a function like that in the future. Meanwhile, have a look at this thread (a bit further down)... I make some suggestions there that might help you, but not sure to be honest: https://scenic.app/forum/topic/first-ride-experience/

Cheers,
Guido

I am experiencing the same behaviour with my BT Solution. I think the easiest (user point of view) way would be a configurable delay for users who need this, may be in the section Navi-Nerd 😉

I've looked into this a little bit. Currently (with the current routing algorithm) there is no way to get a turn indication 2 seconds before. I could add a delay, but that would mean that the instruction would play 2 seconds later than it's supposed to, potentially too late for a turn. I'm working on Scenic 3 ( https://scenic.app/knowledge-base/scenic-3-info/ ) at the moment who perhaps does have this option.

It's hard to recommend anything as all situations are different. What I would personally do (if that's possible with your bluetooth sets) is to not have the intercom open all the time, and simply play voice instructions as music (device default). Most com sets I know of have the option to make the intercom voice activated or button activated. Unless you're talking over the intercom all the time, could this be a workable option for the time being?

Well, it's kind of a selfmade solution, with a little BT Receiver and headphones which fit into the defined holes as the helmet is prepared for a com solution like Sena. So in my case there is no intercom at all.

I understand the challenge of this request and ist absolut ok, maybe there is a solution in Scenic 3.

It's like I hear a click and then the voice just not from the very start. But then I could do a quick look onto the screen and see the distance or whatever is meant (reaching stop point). So, hearing the complete voice would be smoother, but I can live with this little restriction in 'comfort'...

OK. Maybe there is another solution in that case. Your BT receiver... does it support bluetooth A2DP protocol? If so perhaps you could use 'Device Default' as Voice Output. Usually that connection stays open (as it's typically used for music playback) and you wouldn't have to establish a connection every time an instruction needs to play (which is what is causing the delay).

Hi Folks!

First post here, so at first thx to Guido for that great job. Using Scenic since several weeks and it seems to work fine.

Back to topic:

I had this issue too. Voice command been cut for the first 2 seconds. Had this using Navigon (R.i.P) with my Scala G9 and my new Scala Packtalk.

My workaround, as Guido mentioned: Open music, even if you dont want to listen to it, you may pause it. Now connection is stable and you will here all commands immediately. Otherwise it takes a while and first seconds are cut off.

This may help someone, i hope.

Regards, Mex

Hey guys. I too have encountered a similar problem with building intercom. Voice chat was disappearing. Was either clipped or couldn't hear anything at all. Even though my intercom is one of the new ones. But as I understand from your comments the problems are still the same. Also my intercom at first could be opened with a smartphone. More precisely the app. But now this function is gone, as well as voice chat. Seems like a waste of money. I'll have to buy a new one.
