Not happy with imports from kurviger.de - different result - part 2

Hi Guido

like Maja in the other topic told, i am also very unhappy when i am planing very elaborate with kurviger.de and get a very different result, muchmore than in Majas case.

I have planned the route on the outward journey towards the south without a motorway and on the return journey with a motorway. however, scenic doesn't really care - a large part of the outward journey is also routed via the motorway. I have tried all variations of the export with tracks or routes or many and few waypoints but nothing helps!

Hi Franz,

Are you using the 'Send to Scenic' button on Kurviger? If so, could you send me the Kurviger URL to this route (not to the GPX file, but the link that actually opens Kurviger.de with this route), so I can try this myself and see what's going wrong? If not using the 'Send to Scenic' button, could you give that a try?

Cheers,
Guido

Yes Guido,

i "Send to Scenic" and the URL is:

https://kurviger.de/?point=49.72138%2C8.61343&point=49.63129%2C8.37988&pname.1=610%20(39%2FWorms)%20Nibelungenbr%C3%BCcke%20Worms&weight.1=curvature&point=49.3241%2C8.11723&pname.2=608%20(20%2FNeustadt%20a.d.%20Weinstra%C3%9Fe%2C%20OT%20Hambach)%20Hambacher%20Schlo%C3%9F&weight.2=curvaturebooster&point=49.32169%2C8.04955&pname.3=609%20(36%2FMaikammer)%20Totenkopfh%C3%BCtte&weight.3=curvaturebooster&point=49.72138%2C8.61343&locale=de&vehicle=motorcycle&weighting=fastest&additional_weighting=&elevation=true&additional_weighting_factor=2&avoid_toll_roads=false&avoid_toll_roads_factor=5&avoid_ferries=false&avoid_ferries_factor=5&avoid_motorways=false&avoid_motorways_factor=5&avoid_main_roads=false&avoid_main_roads_factor=3&avoid_small_roads=false&avoid_small_roads_factor=4&avoid_unpaved_roads=false&avoid_unpaved_roads_factor=5&document_title=TZF21-Pfalz-klein&route_collection_id=rNKVPr7suQI6LRmuTolx&route_id=xITYPoExsZfms8hvZUvo&layer=Kurviger%20Liberty

regards Franz

I see that the problem is. Kurviger introduced functionality to choose different routing modes between different stops. I was not aware of this, so Scenic doesn't account for this. It uses the same routing mode for the entire route.

Accounting for this requires coding on Kurviger side and on Scenic side too. I will liase with Kurviger to get this done, but it may take a while.

Meanwhile, what you could do is NOT use the routing mode buttons between the via points on Kurviger. In stead add shaping/via points to get the route you want. Not ideal but it will get you the same route in Scenic.

Apologies for the inconvenience,
Guido

Thanks Guido, that new feature from kurviger is the same like in Calimoto and its really helpful, because you need this "mixed" mode just to get fast to the region with the most curves 😉

I do not understand why this get in the wrong way to scenic because its only GPX, but i hope this "mixed" mode will also come to scenic 3, as we already discussed some time ago.

When using the ‘send to Scenic’ button it’s not GPX.

But you got me thinking... have you tried exporting as a GPX from Kurviger and then importing that GPX through the Scenic WebApp? That might actually be a better workaround for the moment.

good to know, i will try it out!
YES and that works really good! So i have to use GPX in future until you fix "Send to Scenic" which is more practicel;-)
