Avoiding unpaved 'roads'
Quote from Mikeyman67 on 06.04.2020, 07:12Good Morning!
I took a LONG ride to get some fresh and socially distant air yesterday. My Garmin is toast so I relied totally on Scenic. Overall I was happy. Only thing, I can't seem to find the setting to 'avoid unpaved roads'. In the southern half on New Jersey USA, there are a LOT of 'roads' on the map that are little more than forest service roads. Some may have been paved at some point (before 1940) but most are sand traps. Am I missing the setting?

Quote from Guido on 06.04.2020, 10:26The 'avoid unpaved road' option is only available for curvy routes. So you would need to generate a curvy route and then you can turn the 'avoid unpaved road' option on.

Quote from Mikeyman67 on 06.04.2020, 11:54Ugh...well that helps, but if I grabbed a route from a GPX repository, its less helpful. Feature request perhaps? Its important. I imported a route from BaseCamp but there was a forced detour due to a bridge out. The 'recalculation' kept trying to send me home via a swamp. Fun on a dual sport...not so much on a sport touring bike. Thanks for the answer...keep doing what you do!

Quote from Paul on 13.08.2022, 15:19Hi Guido, Prepared a route and enjoyed a long ride on fantastic Swedish country roads today. A couple of times Scenic wanted to take me out on unpaved roads. Maybe fun with an Africa Twin but not with a sports tourer. I found this post from 2020 in the forum and learnt that it is only possible to avoid unpaved for curvy roads. Is it still like this 2022? No chance to avoid unpaved roads in general?

Quote from Guido on 13.08.2022, 15:36Hi Paul,
With Scenic 3 it’s now possible to avoid unpacked roads in all routing modes. Tap the routing button in the power planner, or the routing mode in the start screen (appears after you entered a destination), and that’s where you can enable this avoidance).
if you want this on as a default, set your default routing mode in settings > finetuning.
Hope this helps/explains. If not or if you have other questions please let me know. Happy to help.
Best regards and ride safe,
Guido
