Average Speed Restriction for award of points does not match allowed speeds

I recently finished an extended 10 hour ride on open interstate highways with a speed limit of 70 mph (112 kph). We rarely exceeded the speed limit and never by much. At the end of the ride I received a message stating I would not be awarded points due to the high average speed.

It did not really matter to me, but I just wanted to let you know that at least in the United States, highways often have 70mph speed limits and in some places even higher.

Hi Don,

sounds like something else went wrong. The threshold before points not being awarded is way higher that 70 mph (I added it to prevent people from logging train and even airplane travel for points).

could you use the ‘Share’ button to create a share link to this ride and paste it here? Then I can have a look.

Thanks for the response Guido. Yes, I think something is wrong.

The average speed is 1 MPH higher than the maximum speed and is far higher than we were going. The maximum speed (98mph) might be correct from a moment when I had to pass two trucks quickly, but the average should be far far lower.

Could having the app "sleep" during a fuel stop account for anomalies? If on a known route I sometimes don't immediately notice the app asking me to resume for quite a while.

Ah... indeed it could. Does Scenic have 'Always' location access? This is necessary, otherwise this can happen and your ride will not be recorded exactly. Have a look here for more info on this: https://scenic.app/knowledge-base/not-tracking-entire-ride-pause-resume-tracking/
